Fasting
Ten-Day Fasting Challenge: My Journey Towards Transformation
On 24th January, I embarked on a ten-day fast, abstaining from both food and juice consumption. As a beginner, I decided to continue drinking water throughout the challenge to ensure my safety and gradually acclimate my body to the process.
Day 2
Wednesday, 25th January - On the second day, I still felt fine and proceeded with the challenge, hoping to witness some noticeable results. Despite feeling no different, I reassured myself that this approach was safe.
Day 3
Thursday, 26th January - As per my routine, I continued drinking water on the third day. I found myself appreciating the challenge and anticipating a transformation in my overall well-being.
Day 4
Friday, 27th January - By Friday, I experienced a sense of calm and freedom, considering this fasting experience a positive one. Headaches that had initially emerged began to subside, relieving any concerns I had.
Day 5
Saturday, 28th January - Although I encountered mild headaches on Saturday, I remained optimistic, confident in my ability to overcome them. Overall, I felt like my usual self and maintained a positive mindset.
Day 6
Sunday, 29th January - Sunday brought a slight feeling of weakness while I attended church. However, I recognised this as a normal sensation and relied on water consumption to alleviate my headaches and weakness.
Day 7
Monday, 30th January - I regained a sense of normalcy on Monday, free from any weakness or headaches. My mobility improved, and I started noticing satisfying results, which further motivated me to continue the challenge.
Day 8
Tuesday, 31st January - As Tuesday arrived, my skin appeared pale. Nevertheless, I did not feel insane or near death. I remained focused on drinking water and persevering with the challenge. Additionally, I joined a guided tour with Harold, who educated me about various African tribes and their hospitality.
Exploring Arusha
During the tour, I encountered a supermarket reminiscent of a local food market. While I generally avoid shopping for vegetables and fruits there due to potential parasites, I appreciated the developing buildings in Arusha, even in their unfinished state.
Meeting New People At Kitamu Coffee Street, I had the pleasure of conversing with friendly Austrian girls donning shanga beads as necklaces and bracelets. Notably, I found them more amiable than some Germans. I even indulged in a black Kilimanjaro coffee during my fast, relishing its full flavor while ensuring I stayed hydrated by consuming water beforehand.
An Energetic Journey
As we continued our exploration, I experienced a surge of energy, evident in my non-anxious heartbeat. We passed by a church I rarely visit but decided to enter. It didn't leave a significant impression but was an interestingly different experience due to the unique atmosphere and ongoing singing.
Upon returning home, I felt exhausted, sporting dark circles under my eyes and a sense of sleepiness. Nevertheless, I considered it all worth it, given the transformation I was experiencing.
Day 9
Wednesday, 1st February - Today marks the 9th day of the challenge, and I have yet to consume any food. My only intake has been water. Although I feel anxious, I contemplate extending my fasting period, fearing the idea of eating. Strangely, my reduced stomach capacity has diminished my hunger, making me apprehensive about breaking the challenge. Additionally, I am uncertain about introducing smoothies to my diet.
Day 10
Thursday, 2nd February - Skipping breakfast and lunch, I relied on water for refreshment on the second day of February. Consuming solid food and smoothies may pose challenges due to my limited stomach capacity, making digestion difficult. While I occasionally drank coconut water, I understood that it broke my fast. At some point, I might have to attempt eating, but my struggle with chewing and occasional constipation makes the idea daunting. Nausea often follows even small food portions, further dampening my appetite. I wonder if others experience similar issues or if it is unique to me.
Conclusion
Although the body can endure extended periods without sustenance, I find solace in drinking water throughout this fasting journey.

On Thursday, January 25th, I found myself outside, engaged in a project involving wool, bottle tops, and the assistance of local bushmen.
