Overcoming Depression

On Thursday, January 25th, I found myself outside, engaged in a project involving wool, bottle tops, and the assistance of local bushmen. As I meticulously wrapped steel wire with vibrant colors, the bushmen's lively radio tunes added to the cheerful atmosphere. Encouraged by their enthusiasm, Paranjo joined in, mirroring JP's actions. Grateful for their help, I acknowledged their contribution before turning my attention to other matters.

Spotting my mother checking the storage room, I seized the opportunity to borrow the Range Rover keys from JP. After starting the car, I returned to my project, only to be interrupted by Mum's request to run an errand. With BM and Martin, the bushmen, joining us in the backseat, Mum entrusted me with money for expenses and driver's fare.

Exiting the vehicle with my backpack, I met Beatrice, a friendly acquaintance who accompanied me on my journey. As we made our way to the TRA office to secure a Tin Number, I quenched my thirst with a bottle of Kilimanjaro water. Inside, amidst paperwork and fingerprinting, I indulged in a snack of ripe bananas, eager to satiate my hunger.

Once the formalities were concluded, Beatrice directed the driver to Caroline's house, where I was warmly received by her husband and Caroline herself. In the living room, amidst the gentle hum of conversation, I offered a suggestion to Eve, Caroline's sister, regarding her hair, before relishing in a refreshing smoothie crafted by Caroline herself.

Engaging in heartfelt conversations with Eve and Hermina, I shared snippets of my journey, including struggles with suicidal thoughts and depression. Their empathy and understanding provided solace, as Hermina's words resonated deeply. Reflecting on past self-harm, I recounted the pivotal moment when my father's tears revealed the profound impact of my actions.

Leaving Caroline's abode with a newfound sense of resolve, I embarked on the journey home with the driver. Grateful for his assistance, I bid farewell to the bushmen upon arrival, compensating the driver generously for his services. As I entered the familiar confines of home, pockets lighter but spirit lifted, I reflected on the journey of overcoming depression, grateful for the support and understanding that illuminated my path.

While I was in town with Christofina and Dad, we met Patrick. He shared some advice: if you do bad things to others, they will do bad things to you, or God will punish you. I found his words interesting, though I can't remember him very well—it must have been a long time ago.

A man was selling vehicles for a living to make money, but before that, he was not very successful. He had to start somewhere in order to make a living. Over time, he sold 25 million dollars’ worth of vehicles to his customers, and that’s how he became successful.

I have had a numb hand for some time now. I need to keep using that black hand squeezer to straighten my thumb and do push-ups on my knuckles. Here is where I will start, so here I go.

Me In Jail
June 2022

When I found myself in prison, fear gripped me as I realized I could be locked up for three weeks. The white walls seemed to close in on me, and I couldn't help but shed tears. It was a moment of reckoning, realizing that I had said hurtful things to my mother, and I deeply regretted it. In that moment, I understood the need to have better control over my emotions and actions.

Being alone has always appealed to me, as I believed that true happiness could be found in complete solitude. Despite my attempts to socialise and connect with others, it proved to be a futile endeavour. Eventually, I came to the realisation that I couldn't accurately express or understand my own emotions.
